あんパン! / anpan!

1 Ish Good!
Anpan & Nemupan
KS and I stopped by a local Japanese-style bakery after dinner the other night and found some cute little individually-wrapped anpan on the shelf for sale! It turned out to be a "2 for $2.40" night, so we picked up a couple for photos and breakfast.

For those of you who are not familiar with this Japanese baked "pastry", it's a mildly sweetened bread with an anko (or sweet red bean paste) filling. It's a pretty popular snacking food in Japan, widely available at most bakeries. Other varieties of anpan are found nowadays with sesame seed, poppy seed, pumpkin seed toppings, or different bean fillings.

To see more about anpan, check out the Ginza Kimuraya Sohonten site! As far as I can tell, this company is the creator of the original anpan!

Can you see why Anise decided to name her pup "Anpan"? XD;
