This week, KS and I are taking a break from posting strips to better introduce some of our characters.

Today, we introduce Anise Kurobu!

School Seifuku & Casual outfits

As some of you may have already noticed, Anise, albeit the younger of the two girls, is much more impulsive and spunky. Her clothing style tends to the more "boyish". She doesn't wear too many dresses and other frilly clothes, but tolerates them if the occasion calls for it. She also ties her hair back regularly.

Anise is also the official owner of "Anpan", her pluffy pup named after the Japanese sweet bun. She's been a secret admirer of dogs for many years and longed for a pup of her own. Unfortunately, living in a small apartment with her often-times absent father, pets were never an option.

Artist Notes - Kitsy: Anise is my favorite character to draw! When KS and I were first brainstorming this project, she was the first character to formulate - design, name, style, personality. She is so very expressive and just lets stuff happen. The more time we spent designing her, we realized she was a tomboy - loves to tinker with stuff, being comfortable in her own skin, technically curious. She may be a little rough around the edges, but we hope you grow to love her as much as we do!

As an extra side note, Anise is especially spicy - named after Anise and Cloves (Kurobu). There are also little extra hints to her character based on her stats~ :D

Artist Notes - KimonoStereo:Even before Anise had a name, Kitsy and I worked on the basis of her character and personality. Originally created for a totally different project, Anise just kinda grew on us... she has a life of her own. I had an idea of what this girl looked like in my head but since I hadn't drawn anything for such a long time, I stuck to just writing down the ideas on various pieces of paper here and there. Kitsy was able to take these ideas and create a real character for use to work with. I can still recall the day she brought over the first sketch of Anise with her distinctive hair styling and tomboyish face. I was simply amazed because Kitsy had drawn the image that was in my head but it came out even better than I expected it to!

To be honest I wasn't sold on the name 'Anise' when Kitsy first presented it to me. But because I couldn't come up with a decent name we just kept using Anise whenever we referred to the character... and the rest is kinda history eh? I'm so glad that we kept that name.
