Maui and Manoa Libraries

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all keeping cool this summer! It's absolutely sweltering out here and staying cool is somewhat of a challenge!

So this Thursday, we completed the last of our whirlwind neighbor island tour I'm not sure how rockstars do this, but jumping on the plane each morning and evening is pretty exhausting! The highlight of our Maui trip was stopping by all the local staples like Sam Sato's, Krispy Kreme (only on Maui!), and Tasaka's Guri Guri stand. We must have gained some weight on this trip for certain. o_O;

Although our first stop was at the Kahului Public Library, we didn't have enough time to take any photos. Our second event was at the Wailuku Library down the way a little later that evening. For both events, we had smaller but very attentive audiences! In fact, we met with some knowledgeable and aspiring comic artists on Maui! We ended up staying a little too long chatting and almost missed our flight back to Honolulu that night!

Thankfully, I had a day to recover and get back to our strips as scheduled! I apologize again for the delay - our neighbor island talks took a good portion of our time and energy and I didn't have quite as much time as I would have liked to work on my strips!

Yesterday, we had our talk at Manoa Public Library! This is one of my favorite libraries as a youngster as my grandparents literally live down the street. It's familiar stomping grounds for me and I was looking forward to making the trip!

The turnout was much larger than I expected! The librarians Jan and Geri (both are some of our best nemu*nemu advocates around!) mentioned that people had come early for the event to secure parking! We even recognized some faces from Kawaii Kon in the audience! :D To top off the event, the library had their own door prizes for very lucky attendees!

On a sad note, we were one of the last guest presentations to have an event in the library as they will be demolishing the building later this year to rebuild a newer and larger facility.
