One of the most poignant things I've learned while studying Japanese family culture is the amount of love and care the average Japanese mother puts towards her actions involving the family. Most often they make bento boxes for their children(like what Kana has) from scratch, using a wide range of foods and colors to create various images(I've seen everything from Bioshock to Zelda[http://kotaku.com/5138790/zelda-bento-the-adventure-of-lunch] represented in Bento form). It makes me wonder how closely knit a family must forge themselves to be if such care goes into something as simple as lunch
I'm with Ani. Food tastes better when made by people you can trust. School made lunches are almost always bland and boring because they used surplus ingredients made in big vats with no quality control.
Our school always serves food that sounds good like Nachos or Pizza and Musubis (Hawaii-style riceballs with meat) but then they always end up looking and tasting like *beep*!!! DX
See, this is why I bring homemade lunches every day... >.>; (Yummy Saimin and Musubis and Bentoz!!! Oh~... I'm getting hungry...)
I do tend to bring Home lunch to school often, but they're never as cool or pretty as Kana's… >: Oh, if I only had the time and skill to make such lunches… I'm getting hungry~ >w>;
Im wif Kana. I don like anyting i make. >~

Love making my own lunch..or dinner. Mmm.
Wonder what Kana will think of school food...
lol Anise you make me laugh so bad XDXD
Ani's facial expression made me burst out laughing.
And I was reading this at a restaurant...
Ick, I hate the food they serve at schools- always packed(and still do) my own cute little lunches like Kana! :3
Just to add, didn't Kana say, "Wait- Wha?!" Last week too? Maybe their will be a pattern lol.
I'll bet Ani's been eyeing Kana's lunch from the very beginning. I know I would ;)

Sometimes I like school lunches... when they're unhealthy like chicken nuggets or pizza XD But other than that, I like to take a home lunch.
