#16 - It Might Get Loud!
This is a movie/documentary that was on Scott's radar for some time now. I do the art, he does all the music -- namely guitars.
In short, they interview 3 guitar revolutionaries - Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin/the Yardbirds), the Edge (U2), and Jack White (the White Stripes) - and have them talk about their personal experiences, their influences, their fears.
I was taken aback by just how much I could relate to some parts of the movie.
I guess all/most artists are alike. When it comes to creativity, there's that constant inner fear that you just can't create. For me, there are days I just can't draw, I can't design, I can't write... and they're extraordinarily stressful moments for me. Especially when I'm on deadline.
But something sort of magical happens. When you happen upon that clear state of mind, everything just flows -- just the way it's meant to be.
In a nutshell, that has been my motivation for doing these daily strips. They're really rough, by my standards... but after years of Scott telling me that my best work is really in my sketchbook, I figured I give this project a fair try. True, I inwardly cringe at the rawness of it all, but it's all me -- spontaneous, messy, and my thought skritched onto paper.
Also, my apologies to Jimmy Page. I did not intend for him to look like Bernie Madoff. ^^;;;;;
..aaaaand! Here's a time lapse video of the comic being drawn!
Sorry, it's a rush job, so no sound or intro. Enjoy!

Teehee, I just love this....
I always worry about not being able to create, or draw. Usually sometimes I just need time to process things, and then everything comes to me.
I really like this series you are doing. I am usually not used to showing work I make that is more loose either, but I think it translates well, and you have really great drawing skills :)
