Mystery Package from Google
I went to the P.O. Box today and found this package waiting for me. It was addressed to Anise Kurobu.
I didn't think too much about it at first. A few fans have actually sent mail addressed to the pups. What made me do a double take was the fact that this package was from Google.
Here is what was inside. The book is called Sailing Alone Around the Room by Billy Collins. It's a book of poetry.
I called Audra to see if she knew what this was about. She had no clue at all!
I noticed there was a bookmark in the book, and it was set to a page that was dog-eared.The bookmark was for a google service called Google SideWiki. Now here's a mystery!
The package came from Susan Taing who I googled and... sure enough she's the product marketing manager at the big G.
Upon further investigation of the book and the bookmark, I discovered some web sites that finally clued me in on what this was all about. This is a PR campaign that Google is doing for some expert bloggers. It was announced that Google was going to send out a "gift pack" to a few bloggers and the Book is the gift. Not sure how nemu*nemu got on the list but that's fine with me!
The poem that was dog-eared in particular was this one:
Sometimes the notes are ferocious,
skirmishes against the author
raging along the borders of every page
in tiny black script.
If I could just get my hands on you,
Kierkegaard, or Conor Cruise O'Brien,
they seem to say,
I would bolt the door and beat some logic into your head.
The PR is specifically for http://google.com/sidewiki/, their new application that allows anyone to comment on any website. There was a write up about the whole marketing campain here and here.
So there we go. Mystery solved.

I'm still kinda lost... What's going on???
There's a package for Anise...
A book inside... A poem and a note inside the book...
*brain overloadz* Eh?! What happened?
It's all in the last paragraph. It was a PR campaign to get bloggers to start using Google's new product called Sidewiki.
