Happy Sunday!

During the inking stage of strip #72, (Is this the end?) which just ran this past Friday, I could barely keep myself from cracking up! You see, normally Kitsy and I do a brainstorming session for each chapter where we throw ideas around and plot out the chapter strip by strip. From there, Kitsy usually breaks things down into panels and does all of her roughs with no involvement from me. She then draws out the strips and I just pick them up as they are finished and start to ink.

It isn't until the toning process that I start thinking "what are these characters are saying to one another?" By the time I'm done inking, scanning, cleaning up the artwork and then finally toning, a lot of time has passed and I usually forget what the punchline is for the strip I'm working on. When it's time for lettering, I refer back to her original rough sketches with story notes and word balloons on it. Well this particular strip actually had a different rough drawing, but Kitsy decided to change it in the final drawing so it had no punchline at all in the notes.

The night I was working on this strip, she wasn't feeling well and was passed out so I couldn't ask her what the punchline was. So instead I created a whole bunch of punchlines and chose the one that fit the best. There were so many good ones though we decided to share one in a Sunday Special and print the rest of them here:

"Ish just a figure..."
"Ani want FRIES with dat?"
"What goes around, goes round and round."
"Henshin Rider got a tan."
"Ish says CRUNCHY."
