Kung Fu Panda

For the two of us, a movie outing is quite a special occasion. Unless it's something we're dying to see on the big screen, we usually end up renting it on Netflix and watch it eating dinner in the comfort of our own home and at our own pace.

After hearing such glowing reviews from friends and twitterers, we decided to treat ourselves to see Kung Fu Panda this past Saturday. I always have my reservations about Dreamworks animated films and Jack Black's on-screen antics sometimes rub me the wrong way (Regardless, KS loves the guy~)... but boy - I was not disappointed. In fact, I was really taken aback by how moved *I* was during the movie!

Aside from the amazing animation, I really felt the story just glowed. Lessons learned can be applied to all, depending how deep you read into the script. The superstar cast does not overshadow their characters', but instead truly lend to their personalities. The characters all had their strengths and weaknesses, really getting the viewer to truly root for the heroes.

I highly recommend this movie to kids and adults - there's a little something for everyone! This one's high on my list to either see again or purchase when it comes out on DVD. *__*

Additionally, the art was so impressive - I'm debating whether or not to pick up the Art of Kung Fu Panda. KS was so excited to see some Frank Miller-esque montages that were pretty reminiscent of 300 and Sin City. (See artbook cover for just one example~ ^^) I especially liked all of the end sequences that scrolled across the screen. It definitely was worth sitting in the theater to the very end of the credits~

I've heard a few good things thus far, but haven't actually seen a copy in hand. (Incidentally, same thing goes for The Art of WALL.E... I'm not sure why these aren't readily available at my local book stores? T_T;;)

Any one else had a chance to see this? Any other movies you'd highly recommend? ^^
