Crossing Cultures REBOOT! @ the JCCH

Not sure if you folks remember -- late last year, there was a gallery exhibit that featured a number of local comic artists influenced by manga/anime called "Crossing Cultures".
Well, if you missed it at the Windward Community College, it's back for a second run, but this time at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

Real Life Heroes: Chibi Style

Author Stacey Hayashi presents her book, Journey of Heroes, the manga-style comic book chronicling the story of the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
Comic Jam & Artists Showcase

Talk story with the folks from Comic Jam Hawaii and the artists featured in the exhibit.
Crossing Cultures: The Art of Manga in Hawai'i features Hawai'i-based artists and writers who use manga to explore their cross-cultural experiences. The manga artists and writers featured in the exhibition are: Roy Chang (Cacy & Kiara and the Curse of the Kiʻi), Audra Ann Furuichi and Scott Yoshinaga (nemu*nemu), Stacey Hayashi and Damon Wong (Journey of Heroes), Patsy Iwasaki and Avery Berido (Hamakua Hero), Kyunyo, Jon J. Murakami (Gordon Rider), and Jordan Takemoto, Tara Tamayori, and Rose Dela Cruz (Hachi-Maru-Hachi Manga & Short Story Anthology).

We're still working out the details, but I'm pretty sure I'll be there for an hour or so during the JCCH's Kodomo no Hi event on Sunday, May 4th running from 10am - 2pm. So far, Jon Murakami is scheduled to be exhibiting by the gallery, and I'm waiting to hear if any other artists will be participating. More info when it's confirmed. :3
