[August Update] The in-progress summer...

We are eye-ball deep in Summer (with a capital S) here. How is it in your neck of the woods? ;;

Last week, I had dental surgery to remove excessive bone growth on my upper palate which was affecting how I use my mouth and partially triggered headaches. The surgery went fine, but I kinda looked like this for the entire weekend:

That aside, I've also been working on a variety of projects all at once, so it's taking me a little longer to get this update... up.

Do you guys prefer the story-chunk updates or regular page-at-a-time type of updates? There are certainly pros and cons to both sides - regular means new content on schedule, although at this rate, I may be doing 1 page maybe once or twice a week to maintain a buffer. Chunk updates are more irregular "episodes" where you'll have a whole scene at a time, just sporadically until I can get my pages done.

Also! The August wallpaper has been added to the nemu*digital shop: Neko Musume Ramen!

It looks kinda mushed up small, but it looks great on a screen~ like this:

Some of you may have seen my in-progress shots of this on instagram (@kitsy) or twitter (@kyubikitsy) - the setting is a ramen/tsukemen stand near the train tracks in Kyoto, down the way from the Fushimi-Inari shrine. Scott and I hiked 3/4s up the mountain, then found this little gem on the way back to the station, called Men Ko Bo Ren.

I've been working on a series of photo-edit type illustrations over the past year where I draw scenes into photos Scott took during our travels. :D Here's another that I just added to the Society6 print page:

Also at the Fushimi-Inari shrine area. :D

It's also been great inking practice. I really have respect for folks who have the patience and steady hands to do cross-hatching...

Lastly, the Patreon sketchcards for August are done and shipped out! This month's theme is "80's inspiration" - looking back at all the stuff I watched when I got into anime in the early 90's. (It was difficult to get -new- anime back then...) A lot of this influenced how I draw today. Can you name them all? :D

I also drew a second set of sketchcards this month. These will be included in copies of my nemu*nemu books sold at Dragon's Lair in Mililani:

... and if you're interested in a sketchcard, you can get them two ways:

1) Join my Patreon! The top slots get a random card at the beginning of each month (in addition to all the other perks listed~)

2) You can request one!

... and that's it for the August update! ♥
