  Poi is actually made by pounding taro in a bowl with a heavy stone pounder with a rounded bottom known as a poi pounder. They pound it until it's a sticky but smooth paste. It's was traditionally a staple of the Hawaiian daily meal.

  Poi is hard to come by even in Hawaii because it's hard to grow taro as they are grown much like rice in fresh water ponds.

  XD I do like the poi rolls I've had but the poi all mushed was kinda gross. Hmmm pineapple burger.... :D~

  I've never tried poi, but it smells gross. I wonder how a pineapple burger tastes... O.o

  Funny thing I should comment on - we just saw Carls Jr. latest promotion is a Teriyaki Burger... COMPLETE WITH A DOLE PINEAPPLE SLICE!

  Talk about beautiful timing.

  Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to eat one of them... and opted for the Mushroom Thickburger instead. ^_^;

  As for poi - I'm not a big fan of the stuff myself, but I HAVE found a way that I actually like eating it - stay tuned for it tomorrow. ^^
