While I could have chosen a number of things to write about: upcoming Girls' Day on the 3rd, Leap Year on Monday, or even the weather that we've been having lately that's driving me insane, I thought it would be nice to note that the Eddie Aikau surf competition -actually happened- that Thursday when I was drawing the comic.
It doesn't happen every year - as a general rule, the waves need to be a certain height and thusly, have been cancelled many times. In fact, the last time it happened was 7 years ago.
